harvest the sun
Solar panels are a great way to get more power during the day. On a good day the solar panels in combination with the batteries can keep the electric motor running for 8+ hours. And when not using the electric motor they recharge the batteries for the energy to be used later or when the sun is not out.
Solar panels can be mounted on almost every ship, we only need a roof or outboard railing to mount them on.
save more energy
Replacing old electronics with newer more power efficient ones might now sound like it will make a difference, but it does. Replacing old light bulbs with LED's can save up to 55 Watt per lamp! and replacing for example a fridge can save up to 50% of the power consumpion.
Replacing all old electronics can save as much as a solar panel can generate. Giving you more range on the elctric motor or to use for entertainment on board.
don't waste anything
Hybrid systems get one extra special feature when compared to traditional diesel or full electric motors. When a hybrid system is using the diesel motor the electic motor acts as a generator, recharging the batteries.
The added charge can be used by the elctric motor when the diesel motor is not in use, giving you more range then ever before. You could for example use the diesel motor when crousing at higher speeds and when you want to slow it down you can use the elctric motor.
